ELECTRIC SAFETY: DO I REALLY NEED TO CALL 811 BEFORE I DIG?
May 19, 2018
The answer is always YES! 811 is a FREE service, paid for by the utility companies to protect you, your employees, or your tenants. Don’t make a judgement call with other people’s lives. Whether it be electric, water, or gas lines, call 811 before any digging project.

Some examples of projects that might require dialing 811:
- Putting up a new mailbox
- Having a fence installed on your property
- Planting flowers, trees, or bushes
- Building a deck or other addition to your home or business
When you hire Babcon Electric to do a job, you can be sure we always follow the best practices for safety, including making sure every area we dig is clearly marked.
Need to run electricity to your building or shed? Having a new pool installed and need power for the pool pump? Whatever your outdoor lighting or electric needs might be, the experts at Babcon Electric will get the job done right, and in the safest way possible.
REMEMBER: Kentucky Requires the following:
- Call 811 two business days prior to excavation
- Wait the required amount of time
- Respect the marks
- Dig with care

Babcon Electric recently completed a full electrical upgrade at Metcalfe County High School, including all-new sports lighting for the football and baseball fields, as well as new power and lighting for the football press box and fieldhouse. We’re proud to help create safer, brighter spaces for student-athletes and fans alike.
